Your waste is taken to a licensed Yorkshire Water facility, where it is treated and recycled.

The treated water is safely returned to the environment, while solid materials are recycled into useful resources such as renewable energy and fertilisers.

Waste transfer details are provided to Yorkshire Water, ensuring every load is fully traceable, recorded, and handled in accordance with environmental regulations.

Above surface waste tank emptying in East Yorkshire

Above surface waste tanks – also referred to as above ground waste tanks (sometimes also spelt: aboveground waste tanks), above ground off-mains waste tanks, effluent tanks, sewage holding tanks, temporary site toilets waste tanks or flat slide-under tanks – differ significantly from traditional septic tanks. Rather than treating waste on-site, they act solely as holding tanks. They collect and store sewage, including blackwater from toilets and greywater from sinks and showers, until the tank is emptied.

These tanks are widely used in temporary or off-grid locations where access to the mains sewer network is unavailable. Common applications include construction and building sites, civil engineering sites, remote work camps, festivals, concerts, sporting events and camping or glamping sites.

In permanent installations, above ground tanks are occasionally used where high water tables, shallow bedrock or poor ground conditions make the installation of a conventional underground septic tank impractical.

To keep toilets and wastewater systems operational, these above surface waste tanks must be emptied regularly by a licensed waste carrier using a vacuum tanker.
